Get Moving.

We all know that exercise is an important way to stay healthy, but did you know that regular exercise can keep your skin healthy, too?  Vigorous exercise makes you sweat which flushes out toxins and other waste chemicals.  That’s why it is important to shower as soon as possible after exercising.  Exercise also increases oxygen and blood flow to the skin delivering important nutrients to keep skin cells healthy. Improved muscle tone after regular exercise provides a strong support framework for your skin making it appear smoother and more elastic. Regular moderate exercise can help reduce stress, lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol. High levels of cortisol can cause acne and other skin problems, so exercise regularly to reduce your stress and help prevent acne breakouts.  A recent study showed that regular exercise may actually reverse some signs of skin aging (not caused by sun damage) in older adults – proving that it is never too late to start! To help prevent sun damage while exercising, try to limit outdoor exercise during peak sun (10am – 2pm) and use a broad spectrum SPF 30 or greater sunscreen.  Choose one without harsh chemicals so it won’t burn your eyes when you sweat, like our P.R.E.P. SPF 30 face+body lotion. Now get up and get moving to keep your skin looking and feeling its best!* *If you are beginning a new exercise program, start slow and check with your doctor or healthcare provider first if you have any health problems.
