Carole Aponte, MD is Board Certified in Dermatology and has been in private practice for over 10 years. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Baylor University and attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and was appointed chief resident. Dr. Aponte was the recipient of the Mayo Clinic Dermatology Award for Excellence in patient care and the Mayo Clinic Scholarly Clinician Award. She is particularly dedicated to educating on the importance of sun protection, especially since she knows melanoma is nearly 100% preventable! Dr. Aponte has one daughter - who doesn’t have even a single freckle or tan line - a true reflection of her commitment to being a mom and doctor who practices what she preaches.

1. I saved my friend's life when I was 8—he was choking on a piece of candy and I gave him the Heimlich maneuver!
2. I had reconstructive knee surgery in high school which inspired me to become a doctor.
